Making it 'Time to Get Equal' with Scope
Our partnership with Scope, the charity supporting disabled children, adults and their families, provides Capital One with a fantastic opportunity to work alongside the charity in our local community as well as providing insights into how we can continue to focus on diversity in the workplace.
Since 1995 we have worked with Scope to develop forums such as 'Diversity Works', set up in 2003, which helps organisations to overcome barriers to employing disabled people, and providing placements for disabled graduates through Scope's 'Leadership Recruitment Programme'.
In 2009 20 of our employees ran the London Marathon in aid of Scope, raising £35,000.
Over the last three years, 73 Capital One employees have run the London Marathon in aid of Scope, helping to raise a total contribution of over £135,000.
Achievements include:
- Helping raise regional awareness amongst an audience of over 300,000
- Helping raise national awareness amongst a potential audience of over 13 million
- Extending the use of marketing channels to include radio, sporting events and outdoor advertising
- Generating further in-kind benefits to Scope worth £280,000
- Introducing Scope to over 150 key strategic contacts
- Helping amend Local Government policy to incorporate accessibility for disabled people
The relationship continues to grow and these staff-led ventures are proof that employees really believe they're part of a team, and that they find community activities deeply rewarding as well as fun.
