CAPITAL ONE APPOINTS FORMER FIRST DIRECT CHIEF EXEC
Respected Business Leader to Join Capital One's Board.
Capital One has announced the appointment of Alan Hughes, former Chief Executive of First Direct (a division of HSBC Bank plc) as non Executive Director.
Srini Gopalan, Head of UK Business at Capital One, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Alan has agreed to become a non Executive Director. Alan has extensive experience in working with the financial services sector and his expertise and judgment make him a great addition to our Board. He will be a valuable asset to Capital One and a great resource for our executive management team".
Alan Hughes' distinguished career at HSBC Bank plc culminated in his role as Chief Executive of First Direct between 1999 and 2004. He is currently a board member of a number of organisations, including the Cabinet Office Delivery Council and the Identity and Passport Service. He is also a member of the Advisory Board at Leeds University Business School and a visiting lecturer at Warwick University.
Mr. Hughes joined the Capital One Board in February and replaces Tim Jones who, after serving nearly five years in the role has taken up the position of Chief Executive at the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority (a Non-Departmental Public Body stewarded by the Department for Work and Pensions).
